Like I said!

As I said on "my first" I am not much of a writer.  It has been almost a year since I've written anything.  SO. . . To continue, In July of 1972, I left the comfort zone of my little town heading North to the good old USA; having no documents, I was left by myself in, of all places, Tijuana Mexico while my biological mother who had been a US Citizen for many years, worked on getting documents for me to cross the boarder.

In early August, 1972, I proudly crossed to the USA with my as they called it "green card" in hand.  As it turned out, due to the fact that I was a minor and my biological mother had been a citizen for more than 10 years, on August 28, 1972, I became a PROUD USA Citizen.

In September of 1972, under the protest of the principal, who thought that because I didn't speak English, I would not make it in his school, I entered Kearney Senior High in San Diego, CA.
Littler did he know this little one had it covered.  Not only did I make the AB honor roll the first semester but for the duration of HS; I also joined ROTC (Army) and became the first female ROTC NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) in San Diego.  I organized the first Co-Ed Kearny High School Honor Guard; we opened all the football games for the Kearny High team, the "Komets", guarded all the basketball games and opened other community events.

Before I go on I like to mention that not only did my teachers help me succeed, but a very special little girl, Vickie Hardin became my Best Friend.  I will never forget her. . . She currently lives in Texas. In any case, at that time she was this little 4 foot, I don't know 9 or 10 inches tall, BIG eyed student who was sitting at the front of the English class.  She kept looking back at me with a BIG old smile on her face; at the end of the class, she asked the teacher to introduce us and from then on, she took me under her wing.  THANK YOU Vickie for making me feel at home when I was clearly "a fish out of water".

My next journey started when after HS, I joined the US Army;  will tell you that story another day.

My First

Writing is not one of my best skills but for some reason, lately I been feeling like I need to.  I can't tell you how many times I started a journal, wrote one or two times and then abandoned the journal

I have had a great life; there have been ups and downs but all in all, it's been good. I feel like I am at the best place ever.  A little over 2 years from retirement but wait let me back track a bit.

My life started 50 plus years; the first 15 years I lived in a little town in Mexico called "Menores de Abajo". As a 15 year old I wanted to be a soldier and to speak English; plus I didn't want to end up married with 5 or 10 kids.  I couldn't do either of the first two (soldier or English) but I sure could do the latter if I stayed in Menores.  I DON'T THINK SO!

The only thing left was for me to go to Los Estados Unidos.  Broke my parents hearts and; imagine this: a 15 year old from nowhere, talk about a "deer in the head lights."  Anyway, a relative (not ready to say who), brought me to San Diego CA, yes legally.  I went to High School; my first want came true, I learned enough English to get on the AB honor roll the first semester (I know, I'm bragging).  After I graduated from high school, my second want was granted; I joined the US Army.  Since then, I have lived in about 8 states and have had a great journey; by the way my 3rd want came through also, I did not end up with 10 kids.  I have 2 great kids, well they are both now adults and have their own families but never the less they are GREAT.

Well I better not tell the whole story in one post, so... To be continued
